In a series of four broadcasts from Channel 5, Dan recreates the background to the Wars of the Roses,a bloody yet fascinating period in English history, and it is now available here on two discs.Many of us will be familiar with the Battle of Towton where countless tens of thousands were slaughtered. Enter Dan Jones, a young historian who ethusiastically charges into this melange and digs up all the juiciest and goriest details of this tremendously violent period of British history. Just don't watch any of these films on a full stomach. I don't like scruffiness of dress, especially of presenters, but Dan Jones (who dresses as if he were still on a student grant) has such a natural charm and unaffected intellect that one can't but love his company.
