## Overview

The 1'' UNISEAL Flexible Tank Adapter is a USA-made, injection-molded bulkhead seal designed for quick, tool-free installation. ## Description

Uniseal is simply the world's best seal. It is also incredibly easy to install. After cutting a hole in the wall of a tank or other surface, the seal is inserted. Then the pipe is coated with a slippery detergent (i.e. dish soap) and pushed into the seal. Uniseal products replace traditional plumbing hardware with a single injection molded unit requiring no component parts. It was designed to solve many of the issues of pipe to tank connections. For many industries pipe to tank seals are traditionally among the most complex connections to manufacture. Traditional seals require multiple parts such as, rigid flanges, bolts, washers, o-rings, along with long assembly times and high production costs. The Du Pont Alcryn is the key to the liquid-tight seal. When the pipe is pushed through the rubber-like Uniseal from the outside, the inside Alcryn wall becomes thin enough to allow the pipe to squeeze through and then forms a liquid-tight seal. The coefficient of friction with the plastic pipe is roughly three times higher than any other material which allows it to create a better seal than with any other material. In static conditions the seal is good up to 65 PSI. Uniseal can withstand pressure, and suction, acids, oils, greases, gasoline, sewage, waste, heat and cold. It offers long life, easy installation and reduced labor and material costs.

Review: Can seal where a bulkhead can’t! - I’ve made many homemade water filters for fish and stock tanks. It has always been a problem getting a good seal for pipes going into and out of plastic containers that don’t have flat surfaces where a bulkhead would work. I’ve sealed the openings by making gaskets, using silicone, creatively “engineering” custom pieces, and using plumbers’ putty. Those options are not great. I ordered a 5-pack of 1 inch uniseals. This may be my single best purchase of the year. I made a filter out of a 30-gallon trashcan and used 2 of the uniseals for the exiting water. There are no instructions with the uniseals, but you can find videos online. Note that the hole saw you need is 1 3/4, which surprised me. The uniseal will just slip easily in the hole after you remove the burs and loose plastic. Schedule 40 PVS goes through the uniseal perfectly. I used a small amount of Vaseline on just the first 1 inch of pipe, which made it pretty easy to push through the seal. The seals have not leaked even with 12 inches of pipe extending beyond the seal carrying water back to an isolation tank for a few sick koi. Even with moving the pipe around, the seals have not leaked. These seals are absolutely awesome. They’re a lot cheaper (a couple of dollars compared to $15 or so) than a bulkhead and more versatile. I’d recommend them to anyone needing to seal around a pipe going through a curved (or even a flat) surface.

**Q: What is the required pipe od in mm for 1" uniseal?**
A: This is designed for 1 inch sch40 or sch80 PVC pipe.

**Q: Is rhis for schedule 40 or schedule 80 pipe?**
A: PVC pipe has the same OD regardless of wall thickness in 40/80

**Q: I have 1" pvc pipe which i believe is 1" inside diameter and 1 1/4" outside diameter.  do i use a 1" uniseal??**
A: Yes I agree with you, pvc is plumbing measured with id.  at standard thickness.  As in extra heavy steel pipe the id would get smaller but rated same sizing.

**Q: Which size of bulkheads should I use to fit 45 mm ??**
A: You really need a 45mm bulkhead, but you probably will not find one that size. A 1 1/2" Polypropylene Bulkhead should work.
