I can't even zoom in on the product photo to look at the ingredients.** A: The acidity of citric acid prevents the growth of bacteria and mold so that the product will be shelf-stable and safe for a long enough period of time. Citric acid tastes sour, so I suspect that the maltodextrin (a slightly sweet sugar that comes from vegetable starch) is added to balance that out and make it a more neutral taste. **Q: is this for one or two pack for $59.99?** A: When I purchased it, only one container and it was $29 in 2019 which I think is high so $59.99 is outrageous. **Q: Why does the unsweetened and unflavored kind, which I prefer, cost more than orange and sweetened?** A: I don't know but the unflavored kind, which I too prefer, seems to be harder to obtain. Could be that there is less demand for it so they charge more. **Q: Is Metamucil gluten free?** A: Yes, this plain Metamucil is gluten free.
