Every evening, when I pick the cards up off the floor, where they inevitably land as my daughter’s younger sibling (that is all I will call him,) tosses them across the living room like rolls of paper towels tossed into a crowd; I close my eyes and think of that moment that will eventually follow the first time my vacant-eyed toddler correctly identifies the word, “ME” in black lettering. A: Cards are coated with a thick, protective layer for durability that repels when in contact with water. This is a cardstock paper product so it’s not totally waterproof, but the coating helps protect the cards if they come in contact with some liquid.

**Q: I'm interested in ordering the bundle set. Are the words based on a specific reading level or standard?**
A: The words in our decks were curated from the Dolch and Fry lists. In almost every school, K–2 teachers assign these words for their students to study and learn because they are the most frequently occurring words in children’s texts.

**Q: Do these cards have a picture of the words on them?**
A: These cards do not include pictures because research indicates that most children learn sight words better without using pictures. Although some pictures might be helpful for objects like ""dog", they are confusing for words like "was" or "because".

**Q: Do the cards have a sentence on the back?**
A: The cards do not have sentences on back. However, they have words on both sides to optimize learning. The packs include games where you encourage learners to make their own sentences with the words.
