It will keep up with heavy rains and no worries of it overrunning the sump pit pit anymore. It will drain the pit and shut off every during high drainage pouring in. My 3/4HP pump wouldn't keep up before. I typically get 5-6 years out of these Wayne pumps, I change them out after that timespan because the cast iron is rusting up at that point from sitting submerged in a sump pit during the 5-6 years in our area. Piece of mind to have a new pump without any wear or rust.
