The language to program it is cumbersome but once you get used to it is workable yet is still tedious. What I disliked about it is the lack of examples. Being new to HMI's some examples would have helped the design process It was a lot of trial and error until it functioned the way I intended it to. I 3D printed an enclosure due to the lack of enclosure selections available for this display. I adhered some magnets to the inside of it so it will stick well to the steel frame it will be attached to. For this price compared to the traditional HMI for PLC's, you cannot beat the price point. They also updated their software so that small changes now takes seconds compared to uploadng the entire code which takes minutes depending on the code size. Overall happy with it and will likely use more in the future. My intended use for this is to control testing/programming a PIC controlled device for a few of the products my company manufactures. Makes for a seamless anb simplistic interface for whatever project you're going to use it on. Highly recommend Review: Works Great for DMR Hotspot - I use this with my DMR JumboSpot, and once I downloaded the proper Nextion files, it worked great, Finding the .HMI files to work with it, however, took several days. Use the Facebook group to find the proper one for this model. Warning: If you want to plug it into USB port, you're going to need a TTL to USB adapter plug, too. Please note that this is a 5V device, and the default jumper on most adapters is 3V, which won't make the display power up. What pins are used?** A: If I remember correctly the LCD can connect via the megas serial port if you want or it can work with any digital pin. Understand though the LCD is not like any other display. The Nextion is actually a controller in itself called a PLC and has it own IDE and must be programmed also. It's really a micocontroller with a built in display. I’m using their product to flash the boot so it’s comes up flawless each time. The boot cycle is less than 5 secs, also depends on how many screens and depth of workflow you are doing but I couldn’t see any lag.
