Review: I did not expect these to be THIS good! - I have all sorts of high end in ear buds, but as I walk or bike at least 40 minutes every day or so, I have found I only use my Oladance OPEN EAR buds, vs all my in ears, and I REALLY still like my Oladance open ears from good sound, to being super comfortable to wear. BTW, not sure ANY open ear buds are a good choice for bike riding however, because your ear canals are open to the wind. As to these Cleer Arc iis, I wanted something new and FRESH vs my current Oladance Gen1 buds, even vs the new Oladance Gen 2's. Saw a bunch of Shokz - OpenFit and also OpenRock pro reviews...somehow, they just did not excite me. Thought I'd take a chance with these CLEER Arc ii buds. The minute I put them on and they connected to my Samsung S21 Ultra? it was like, WOW!!. I was not expecting these buds to sound SO amazing..without even using their app for EQ, not even installed yet. I did then install the Cleer app which immediately prompted me to do a firmware upgrade which went flawlessly. All I know is these buds sound FANTASTIC!, esp for open ears, it's almost like how did they do this? Just like "any open ear buds" there is no major SUB bass here, but bass is REALLY good, tight, and plenty of it. I compared them to my Oladance buds, and to my ears the Arc ii's sound WAAAY BETTER than the Oladance buds. Not a little, a LOT. Reason is, these buds seem to have a much, MUCH, broader frequency response..rather good bass, nice mid range, and a ton of great sounding treble. Perhaps the treble is ALMOST too much at times, but I love the way they sound They sound super CLEEEER!. When I switch to my Oladance now THEY almost sound like a pair of muffled speakers with something blocking their sound. These Cleer Arc ii's sound Much Much more open sounding. The Arc iis like all open ear buds don't get "in ear super loud"..but get loud enough, and way loud enough for me. I played around a bit with the head gestures feature, it sort of works, but I think they will need another firmware upgrade down the road as it's a bit too sensitive right now. It's too easy to slightly move your head even a little, and it may make the track go back OR forward, so I took that feature off in the app for now. Be aware there is some very thin plastic covering the part where the buds have to charge. At first, I charged the case but realized I actually did not charge the buds too, because I just didn't see that VERY thin plastic covering the charge area. When you charge these buds, know there is NO charge light on the external part of the case, it's on the inside when you open the case. As to comfort, if Oladance is a 10...maybe these are an 8.5-9. I wore them a good 3-4 hours and barely noticed I was wearing anything, but depending upon your ears, PERHAPS you can feel a like a micro pinch on the upper part of your ears. In my case they were just VERY very comfortable for my ears, they stay in place well overall..and if you care, LOOK ultra premium. I tested multi-point between my phone, again it's Android, and my Macbook Pro...it worked flawlessly. If Cleer can tweak the head gestures these would be untouchable in the current open ear buds catagory. I am amazed just how much I like these Arc ii's!! As everybody's ears are different and different sizes, your mileage may vary, but I LOVE these!! ESP how they sound! I had NO weird connection issues, or any trouble AT all with these little guys...
Review: These are good, very very good for sound and comfort, even fitted my small ear canal size. - I have small ear canals and have struggled to find any earbuds that sound good without falling out or needing to be fiddled with to re-insert. Good sound is important to me including sound stage, clarity and base without boom. I have ‘Flare ‘earbuds, I love their sound but can’t keep them in place. I have also tried Jaybird with ear hooks, Earin A3 which sit in the ears but not canal and Etymotic with the double seal in the ear canal. The Jaybird worked ‘ok-ish’ for both sound and fit but weren’t great and then they failed. The Earin A3 had nice sound but would fall out after a while and there was no chance you could be active or eat and drink without them dislodging, eventually they broke on one of their falls. The Etymotic fitted well but the sound was lacking, others have raved about the Etymotic sound but I found them tinny even though I don’t like hard or booming base there was just nothing there. I do want good sound, now as a reference my normal listening headphones are over the ears HIFIMAN Ananda and love their sound but obviously they aren’t good for portability. Compared to the HIFIMAN the sound of the Cleer buds is very good, not quite as good as the HIFIMAN headphones but come pretty close, which for earbuds is amazing. I can hear the slight distortion you often get from radio voice transmission and have confirmed that is the transmission and also present with the HIFIMAN. To test the buds I used (amongst other things) the 2022 recording of the ‘50th anniversary of Tubular Bells’ which I know to be of a good recording standard and it embraces a range of music. The Cleer earbuds were great over the whole album with a lovely sound, just losing clarity at the top end on Ella Shaw’s vocals in Moonlight Shadow. The Cleer earbuds are comfortable even though I wear spectacles and sitting outside the ears don’t move, even when active outside in wind. The buds come with an equalizer app that allows some adjustment without being crazy, for me I liked to add just a little base.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great headphones with nice feature set. Comparison with LG Tone
*by Y***X on July 26, 2024*

I have been a fan of neck headphones ever since LG debuted the original design a very long time ago. Nobody had anything similar, and I was skeptical of them. Why would you want to wear headphones on your shoulders and hug your neck especially during working out? I gave it a try and fell in love (after making a few adjustments.) But LG Tone's headphones came with some annoying flaws with each successive model, one of which was audio cutting in and out, and the other being that they did not last very long: their headsets died within a year. I had three of them. All died within about a year. Customer service was terrible. LG was flying high on its exclusive design. Then came the copycats. They were even worse. Fast-forward 10 years later, and wireless headphones have become de facto, particularly with the introduction of Apple's AirPods. The problem with AirPods is that they could easily drop off during more intense workouts. I lost 2 during marathons. That made the races even more than I wanted. Alas, I was never able to locate them -- either they were swept away, taken by someone, or crushed by other runners or cars. Who knows? I tried over-the-ear, wireless headphones and all disappointed short of buying the very expensive brands. A running mate recommended I try out Cleer. And so I did. I never heard of that company, actually, but the feature set sounded good: sporty look and design, ability to connect to 2 Bluetooth devices at the same time (so I could answer both my personal and work phones without having to switch over), good sound quality (it had clarity and decent bass when I briefly tried my friend's), and looked to be able to stay on the ear better. PROS - Quality material - Sat comfortably and securely even during high-intensity workouts - Great sound with decent bass - 7.5 hour tested usage (takes about 2 hours to charge) - Reasonable pricing to LG Tone's neck headphones - Voice calls sounded good to other side (while drowning out background noise) - Connect up to 2 devices at the same time - Sweat proof at IPX5 (X means that it was not rated against dust protection. Second number is for water protection and is out of 6) - Bluetooth 5.3 - Carry case included that also acts as UV sanitizer and battery charger packing enough power for 3 more charges (Manufacturer claim. Didn't test this out) - Cleer+ App smartphone app allows additional customizations and controls and perform firmware updates CONS - Volume could be a bit louder, especially if you're going to use it on an airplane [EDIT: You can make it slightly louder on iOS by going to Settings > Sound > Headphone Safety > and turning off "Reduce Loud Audio"] - Bass could use some more power CONTROLS Taps Earbuds can be tapped to control music and take/make calls Head Motion Disabled by default, and I did not want to turn it on to test because I don't want my head to accidentally trigger things while working out. I just want the headset to play music and take/make calls, that's it. TIP: Should you need to reset the earbuds, put them into the charging case and long-press the "MFB" button for 10 seconds until it says "Restoring Bluetooth Setting" [sic] Overall, I really like this set of headphones after my disastrous experience with the LG Tone neckbands. LG's original was great, but LG's subsequent models, their poor customer service, and poorly-executed copycats made me stay away from this type of headphones. Cleer did great with their take on this headphone. Many thanks for the recommendation from my running mate!
