I saw drive temps in a low-airflow system go from the 70°C range to the high 50°C range using these heatsinks. They get heat off the NVMe and controller chips, and make it easier for it to convect or be blown away. That's about it. They're not like the insane ThermalRight heat pipe heatsinks, but they fit more nicely in more systems. I do have some qualms about the rubber bands over long periods of time, but that's a minor gripe for the price.
