It is actually a 220v European model reconfigured for 110v output. This is deadly in the United states as we use a grounded or bonded neutral. The neutral on this unit is not bonded and outputs 55v or more to ground. DO NOT BUY if you live in the USA. I was electrocuted multiple times trying to troubleshoot my lighting. Feature rich! *by E***A on March 17, 2019* EDIT 2021: Left this thing rotting in a shed for a year before I decided to crack the case open and troubleshoot it. To my amazement and delight all that was wrong was a disconnected cable from the main board to the switch. I reconnected and reassembled. Now it works likes a champ. HOWEVER!!! Four stars is generous as all get out. I have an advanced degree in mathematics and have worked in circuitry for much of my adult life. I am qualified to open and service power equipment. Seriously, if you do not understand power rectification and amplification DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THIS UNIT! IT IS CHOCK FULL OF HIGH QUALITY COMPONENTS THAT CAN FRY YOU. One slip and you could easily die. Edecoa, please do better quality control. This is a well designed and 99% well built machine, BUT the quality control issues can cause a major headache. Edit: Died a few weeks after warranty expired. Amazing until our unit like many others failed at the point of minimal value. Not suitable for business or any other heavy use. Certainly not for an extended period of time. Original Review: We bought our unit a year ago to power commercial refrigeration in a food truck. It has done the job quite amazingly. For sure we needed to upgrade our cables (5000 watts/12volts = 416 peak amps draw!) But once we got right with monster supply cables this unit has surpassed expectations. It is quiet and cool, starts up all manners of refrigeration compressors - ice machine, reach in fridge, sandwich unit (even a 20 gallon Craftsman shop compressor, although this will REALLY test your supply cables.) The remote works well and has two modes of functionality depending on the position of the switch on the inverter face. The display is awesome and shows all the relevant information. It is the best available display at this price point by far. The unit has a soft start feature which is just great for compressors like those found on refrigeration units. (Compressors, often mentioned in this article are just about the harshest, heaviest, most taxing load you can put on a compressor... a real torture test.) In regards to the reviews that mention "magic smoke" or failure after a few months: When we got this unit, we thought it was malfunctioning, so we contacted the seller (manufacturer) and they we quick in their replies as well as extremely helpful, offering a no hassle return and reassuring us that we had a one year warranty in any case. As it turns out, we had a faulty voltage regulator elsewhere in the circuit. Basically these fine folks helped us to troubleshoot our system even when their part was NOT the issue. 5 stars! I also have to challenge the review that states that the ground and neutral on this unit are somehow incorrectly wired. Once again, the key is to make sure the unit is correctly wired. There is a small ground screw on the side of the unit. USE IT. When the system is properly grounded out we have had absolutely no issues. We have tested these outlets with nice multimeters (yes plural) and they perform like any properly wired outlet. I cannot speak for the refrigeration units that were "converted." I can however speak regarding the use of True commercial refrigeration units. These units are wired with multi-tap transformers. This is to say that they can be run on 240 or 120. Two of the units I am currently running were previously wired for 240 but are currently wired for 120. Both of these units run without hesitation on this inverter. Coffeemaker, check. Hairdryer, check. 1500 watt heater, check. Water distiller running for 4 hours @ 750 watts, check. 55 inch TV with AppleTV4K, Xbox, soundbar and 29 gallon aquarium, check. All manner of laptops, phones, tablets electronics, check. Compressors, uh check. It is a good deal, but you do have to spend a few extra bucks to make sure you install it correctly: Huge supply cables. A big circuit breaker(s) for the positive cable(s.) A ground cable.
