That was a poor decision because the smaller version is much better.This model does not have zoom/focus in the flashlight, making it much less useful, and the reading light is weaker and partially blocked by the case. It's larger, heavier, and more awkward to carry. And there are some other issues like the antenna being on the outside; the antenna on the smaller model retracts into the case. There are other drawbacks, as well.Other than the battery capacity, the only real advantage of this model is it has an input jack so you can play audio from your phone or music player through the radio's speakers; having the second speaker does not add any value, it just takes up space and adds weight. This one does have a separate on/off switch for the reading light, but that's not necessarily a good thing since it's near another switch (I think it's the SOS alarm), which can get activated by mistake; flipping up the reading light on the smaller model to turn it on works better. The really big minuses are the bulk and the poor flashlight, plus that it costs about 50% more than the smaller model.I didn't return this radio because it wasn't worth the trouble, and I may find some use for it, but I can't recommend It. I highly recommend the smaller, less expensive version. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A good way to be prepared for emergencies *by D***I on Reviewed in the United States on March 27, 2019* I've been meaning to get an emergency radio for a while. It has some features that make it useful for other purposes: headphone jack to play music from your phone is probably the biggest one. That's nice for camping if you want some chill music outdoors. But mostly I'm interested in this for emergencies. I like the large battery capacity. It can run off of actual batteries, charge via USB, charge via solar panel (see pic) or charge via hand crank. The radio works well, though I don't like that the SOS button is right near everything else, I already accidentally turned it on once which produces a loud alarm. It's also got a bright flashlight on the side, a good feature for an emergency radio. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4000mAh Battery *by J***B on Reviewed in the United States on January 16, 2018* The main reason I bought this model was the 4000mAh Battery. Other than that, the less expensive models have basically the same capabilities. I also noticed that even some of the more expensive models have a lower mAh battery. Having longer battery life is arguably the most important spec for an emergency (or convenience). Also better to provide enough charge on your cell phone for an emergency call. Note if the battery mAh is not up front in an emergency radios product description, it is probably 1000 or less. I ran it through its paces and everything seems to work fine. The AC charger adaptor cord is about 2.5 feet and the USB cord provided is short. Neither of which is an issue for its function. Its dimensions are approximately 2.5 by 7.5 in, so it might be smaller than you expect. To me, that's a good thing. Can't say I'm crazy about the color choices. Than again, orange kind of displays its use as emergency equipment.
