It consists of a transmitter (with moisture sensor) and a receiver. The transmitter which attached to the user’s underpants will trigger the alarm to go off as soon as bedwetting occurs. The user can then wake up and use toilet. Such process can gradually condition the brain to respond to the messages from the bladder and eventually overcome bedwetting problem. This product is suitable for people aged 5 or above. Time required for treatment Typical treatment takes 6-12 weeks but it varies from person to person, for there can be lots of variables. Motivation and persistence are very important. A supportive family can help shorten the time required for overcoming bedwetting and enhance the success rate. Tips for success 1) Parents play an important role in particular at the initial stage of alarm treatment in waking your child as soon as the alarm goes off and are therefore recommended to sleep in the same room with your child for the first 2 weeks of using the alarm. But I felt this product really has changed our lives and given our 5 year old the confidence she deserves! I wish we had tried it sooner! We bought this for our 5 year old after following all the usual advice (more drinks during the day to check she wasn't constipated, stopping drinks 1 1/2 hours before bed, final wee before sleep, relaxing bedtime routine...) but every single night she was wet. She had been dry in the day since 2 and very rarely has accidents. The first few nights I had to wake her up as the alarm wasn't and she was soaking wet. Then, it just clicked and she started waking up and stopping mid wee. After a few more nights she started waking up and asking for the toilet. I've attached the chart they provide. It works really well!! I have it set to alarm only and quite a loud volume, it wakes her up as soon as she starts peeing. Rather than fully peeing the bed, it’s a small dribble and then she gets up to go to the toilet. At the moment it’s trying to get her to put it back on when she is still half asleep after being woken by the alarm: I did not sleep next to her to start with. I explained what would happen, let her hear the alarm and explained that if it goes off then I will come and she has been fine, the alarm goes off and she goes to the toilet while I’m putting it off. I clip the alarm onto her pants and then pop another pair over to keep it in place, she said it uncomfortable to begin with but she is used to it now and doesn’t complain.
