Most install on the right. We have a cabinet too close on the right side for a bidet . Be aware that this ships from China so it takes a while to receive. It did come in the estimated time that Amazon stated. My husband installed it without complaining, so it must have been straightforward. He was worried that the hose that attaches to the water valve and bidet might not be long enough as they are on different sides of the toilet. It was long enough however. There is a lever on the bidet to turn to adjust how much water pressure you desire. There is also a lever to turn it off, such as if kids are going to be using the bathroom and you are worried about a potential mess. The water hits in the right area. This is the first bidet we have used. All of this rendered moot when at 2 months the plastic housing on the main control panel malfunctioned at the connection and flooded our bathroom while away. We had it looked at and the connection hose was fine, but just beyond at the housing started to leak and there was no way to repair it. The return policy is after one month and it broke at 2 months.
