It doesn't come with any pre-loaded numbers blocked, and it has no ability to recognize numbers coming from scam or spam sources so it really only works after you start manually blocking all those nuisance calls one by one. Unfortunately, most of those annoying agencies calling you multiple times a day have a LOT of numbers to bother you with. When you've finally stopped their calls, they get a batch of new numbers to call from so it's kind of an endless cycle. It claims there are settings to block certain area codes but it doesn't work on mine, and even if it did, it's not a realistic solution since scammers and spammers (at least in my experience) are either using or cloning numbers with my local area code. Other features it claims are a light up display and the ability to block numbers using the * button on the hand set (if I remember the button correctly) but neither of those work for me either which makes the process a bit annoying at times. It's not a BAD device, just very much "you get what you pay for". One thing it could really benefit from is to have the "block" button illuminated in some way. It is red but that doesn't help much if you're fumbling around in the dark trying to find the block button. Though, that probably only applies to 3rd shift workers and anyone who sleeps during the day and early evening.If you're looking for more features or something more programmable you'll have to spend the extra money because this device is very basic. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Blocks Calls *by L***E on Reviewed in the United States on September 5, 2022* We don't how we got on the Robo call lists but we were getting as many as 60 bogus calls a day. We did not answer any calls that we did recognize yet they kept coming with Spoofing local numbers. Finally I disconnected our land lines in the house and would only plug them in to check for Voice Mail Messages or when we needed to use the phone. Our phones were pretty useless and I tired of allowing criminals to try and manipulate our lives. We researched many Call Blocker machines and finally chose this one as a middle price range and functions. The cheap and expensive ones all had wonderful and terrible reviews.Positives: It works. It is not as expensive as some. It did bring some relief for a while.Negatives: It does not work all of the time. At times it blocks ALL of the calls. When accidentally blocking a legitimate number I have not yet been able to unblock it. I went on Youtube and viewed several videos that did not help. Our land line service is terrible. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Blocking an entire area code did not work for me *by R***R on Reviewed in the United States on November 29, 2018* I set up this call blocker 3 days ago, and carefully following the instructions included with the blocker, attempted to block an entire area code (most of my scam calls are coming from one particular area, using the same area code but a different number each time). After several attempts using two different phones, I was unsuccessful in blocking theat area code, or any area code. I sent a detailed email to the address provided in the instructions explaining the issue and the process I had used in trying to block an entire area code. It says they will get back within 24 hours (the company is in China). Well, the good news is, they lived up to their promise and replied early the following day (less than 24 hours). The bad news is, they provided me with the same process which I had already attempted, so the issue was not resolved. I'm still using it for a few days to make sure all the other features work, and if they do, I'll most likely keep this blocker since it's very easy to block an incoming call as it's happening, or to go back later if you don't happen to be sitting next to the phone when the call comes in, and block it later. Incidentally, the short instruction manual is written in English, but by someone apparently at the office HQ in China, and is a little confusing in places. For example, to block an area code, it says to press speaker phone on the handset, press the * key, press 8, and then enter the area code, following by the # sign. But in the example they give, you actually need to press the * key both before and after pressing the 8 key (press speaker,phone *8* area code #). I tried it both ways, but was unsuccessful in blocking an entire area code with either process.
