They are 100% perfect for this use. If anything they might slide on a windy day on a smooth blacktop parking lot. I would guess they would stay still if placed in grass on a breezy day. I have only used them once but they seem to work wonderfully! I did have one cone so far that had a chunk taken out of it right out of the box. They are a bit light just placing them on the grass.
