Lightweight and portable, it features a built-in stainless steel strainer for convenience, making it perfect for both home and office settings. ## Description Banko-yaki (ware) is well known pottery as a one of the six ancient kilns of Japan, has been built in Yokkaichi Mie Prefecture back in year 1736. Banko tea pots ares baked with Reduction Furnace.This method gives very limited oxygen into the kiln. The clay used for Banko tea pots contains many iron contents. With the reduction furnace, the mineral, in particular Iron inside the clay changes to blue in color. After baking is completed, the baked teapots expose to the atmosphere as door is opened, the surface of teapots are slightly oxidized. The oxidized iron is reddish in color, and when blue color mixed with this reddish color, teapots appear to be purple in color. The iron and the tea tannin shows an chemical reaction and makes the tea mild. The more you use it ,the more it brings out the taste of green tea. ## Features - Capacity: 12.3 fl. oz.
