It took my boy over 3 years to get on and use the older one. When I placed this Lambaw on the floor it took him about 30 seconds to start scratching and using it as a couch, or what I call his "divan".The only reason I gave it 3 stars is that the corregated material is not as durable as the older one...there are more scratchings on the floor than with the older one. The other box type cardboard scratching pads falls apart easily when my cats would chew on it. They try to chew this one but its reinforced on the ends. I bought the extra large one and my 16 pound cat has plenty of extra room.
