This may not be a big deal under normal circumstances, but as I'm still bald from chemo, and it's summer in NC, and my internal thermostat is way off - I'll have to wear a cotton bandana under the hat to keep from feeling like my head's cooking. Granted, it will keep the sun off my head, face, and neck, thus preventing sunburn, freckles, and skin cancer (like I need THAT one on top of breast cancer! ;-) ), and thus more broiled than I normally do outside, but why anyone would make a polyester hat for summer is beyond me. She LOVED it but didn't use the chin strap b/c she didn't think it was too windy. Well, the wind caught it and it went sailing into the Chicago River at "rush hour" so there was no turning around to look for it. As I was about to oder a new one (she was devastated by the loss) we noticed a Chicago Coast Guard boat rescuing the hat. They pulled up alongside our boat and delivered the soaking-wet purple sun hat to us! It is as light as a feather, very comfortable and easy to carry (I just laid it flat in my suitcase when I went to Mexico and it took practically no room). The strap that goes under the chin is comfortable. I also like the part that extends in the back because I have shoulder length hair and it protects it. That way, I keep my hair from looking like hay. It is not meant to be an elegant hat but for sporty activities such as hiking, taking a walk in the sun or gardening, it is absolutely perfect! I bought it in pink and it is a pretty hue of pink.
