In the pictures, it appears to be a substantial metal encasement to the glass with a nice metal handle and lid. In fact, it is a decorative metal encasement with an incomfortable handle and plastic lid. It does the job like any other French press and the screen mechanism is perfectly fine. It is fine for use on my kitchen counter, but I would not use it on a table as the base could scratch wood as it has no cushion. The capacity is perfect for my morning coffee as it fills one good sized mug and one to go Thermos. I am sure it will serve me well for the next few years or until one catches my eye that has a more comfortable handle, base, and lid. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect cheap one person French press *by K***A on April 26, 2018* Tried it right out of the box.
