The Stratford tile is a decorative tile, and is not well suited to reduce sound or noises on it's own. Though it does have some ability to reduce noise, it's only about half that of a standard drop ceiling tile, so it will not be a good choice on it's own, when noise is an existing problem. The Stratford tiles can only be installed in a suspended T-bar drop ceiling grid. They cannot be glued up over the top of existing ceiling tiles.
