We keep six 1 gallon bags of ice in a chest freezer. We use this machine 2 to 3 times a week to replenish the stored ice. The following are my observations.Pros:It makes ice.Cons:Extreme water waste – 5 gallons of wastewater in 3.5 hours just to get a single gallon bag of ice. Water continuously runs down the back of the machine and out the drain even after lowering the water pressure going into the machine. See video and pictures. The flow shown in the video is constant.Poorly insulated & runs hot – This machine is an ice maker and space heater all-in-1. We keep the room temperature at 72 degrees F. We have to make ice at night because this machine dissipates a lot of heat causing the A/C to run more than it should just to keep up during the day.Poor construction – The door is too far out on the hinge side causing a 1/8" gap between the door seal and the machine cabinet. The door also sags causing the door to rub against the cabinet. See pictures.The timer isn’t reality – I timed the operation multiple times and found 12 minutes is actually 18 minutes 17 seconds from the beginning to when the ice drops into the bin.Price - There are at least two other machines sold on Amazon that are identical to this one except with a different name badge/logo. They all have the same specs. If you're looking at the SOTZ machine, I recommend looking at the others and buying the lowest priced one.
