Got it set up and turned several pen blanks and bottle stoppers and a couple of lidded boxes to test it out . The 1/2hp motor is just fine for these type turnings. I’ll be making several small finials next for boxes to be made. It’s perfect for the beginner and an experienced turner who just wants a well made small lathe. Price on desertcart was $100 cheaper than other sellers. I considered other lathes as well but this one just fit my needs exactly. This is basically a smaller version of the 1221 vs Jet lathe also a nice lathe .. I’ve owned that lathe and really liked it as well but sold it to help pay for a larger upgraded lathe. So on those cold winter days I can go downstairs to my shop and not have to go outside and dress for winter just to go play in the shop . I’m retired so I spoiled myself with this fun shop. There are a few other really nice lathes in this price point that do a excellent job , I would recommend the HF Bauer 14x21 as another good lathe and a excellent price for what you Get. You can get a bed extension here on desertcart that fits perfectly and is same color. I also own this lathe and extension. It was just to big for my little hobby space or I would have moved it.
