Also, getting tired of replacing expensive 9v batteries each year for the 7 of them. This smoke detector has a 10 year battery, loud alarm and easy installation. We opted for the battery only model and tucked the low-voltage wires away underneath the mounting brackets. If the brackets aren't drilled for your wiring box dimensions, they're easily modified with a drill using a small drill bit to drill guide holes and then expanded in diameter with a larger bit to the size needed. Once the base plate is mounted, just turn the detector on the base a quarter turn. The battery is activated with a chirp. A quick button test to make sure it's active. That's it. I'm not a wiz at the mechanics, but the advertisement says that this model reduces false alarms by using traditional as well as visual tech in order to determine an actual fire or smoke danger.
