He has nearly always played the good guy and his career has been quite amazing, an actor capable of anything and playing the villian for one movie is a terrific challenge and one that he pulls of brilliantly and is very powerful.Many great actors have done it, most notably perhaps is Steve McQueen, who played a villian, a real bad guy just once in The Getaway. This piece is just as strong and is a fine example of Denzel's abilities as an actor. Playing a twisted but charismatic undercover narcotics detective, Denzel carries this part with ease, giving his new recruit partner a real hard time, but hooking him in simultaneously. Denzel Washington is superb throughout and deserves every accolade for his performance as a crooked Narco who has "got in too deep" and hatches a desperate plan to save his own skin - whatever the cost.
