They were handy for storage, and there was enough room under the bottom rack for shoes. There was enough room to hang tall garments. I had no trouble rolling it to another location. I did place carpet protection 'coasters' under my unit's wheels, to keep from putting marks in the carpet. I would order this product again, especially since I thought the price reasonable. I have shoes on the bottom, a bunch of clothes / winter coats hanging and a few small bags/suitcases on the top. Wheels on the bottom are a nice benefit, but I don't use them. They seem quite sturdy and they lock! I had bought a much less expensive, larger, garment rack that was a piece of crap. Torn right out of the package and got torn further while attempting to put it together. Tried calling their 800 number, but the number was no longer in service, so I returned it and bit the bullet by paying more for the Whimor Supreme Garment Rack. It was well worth the extra money! Went together easily and is very sturdy. No problems with tipping over even when fully loaded with clothes. With the shelf on top and bottom, there is lots of room and versatility. No need to hide it inside a closet, it's attractive enough to have sitting out in the open. Directions for assembly were easy to follow and it takes very little time or effort for one person to set up. Thanks to Amazon Prime, it was shipped right away and I received it in just two days.
