You can turn it on permanently or off if you prefer. There are also three settings available for the brightness. **Q: What is the temperature buffer in regular operating mode - how far does the temp have to go up or down before the fan comes on or shuts off?** A: An additional note on this, AFAICT there is no temperature buffer in smart mode, it only applies in auto mode. In smart mode the fan just toggles on and off continuously as the temperature hovers around the set point, making that mode kinda useless. Reported as a bug to AC Infinity... **Q: Does the fan have auto mode to turn on automatically based on temperature?** A: It is not the fan that have an auto mode, it is the AC Infinity Controller. I leave mine on Smart program all the time so when the temperature rise up the fans start to extract the heat gradually and silently. The warmer the receiver the faster they go until the temperature comes down again ( according to your program ) and then the system turns off automatically. This is a fantastic product and seeing how hot the receivers can get I can only highly recommend AC Infinity. Before my receiver could heat up to 42 degree celsius, now the temperature never goes above 30 degree celsius. Hope that helps. **Q: What is the highest temperature you can set the fans to come on at?** A: Nvm...It looks like they've updated to a newer model than what I have.
