Therefore, I need a good option to be able to change a tire or hub, or perform other emergency service easily and safely by myself. This has been the perfect solution. I opted for the plus version to make sure I had the necessary clearance on any terrain. I tested it out a few times when I got it on both concrete and in the grass. On the concrete it works great and provides more than enough clearance to remove either a flat tire or fully inflated tire. On the grass it also provides plenty of functional clearance but due to it sinking some into the soil it was less than when on the concrete. This is where the plus version comes in handy with the extra height. When pulling forward onto the ramp with the front tire of the trailer it is much easier to tell when you have reached the top of the lift and stop. The same cannot be said for backing up the ramp with the rear tire. I have over driven the top of the ramp a few times and had to start the process again. This is all while alone. With a partner to stand back and watch the process it would be much easier. So far it has held up to the use and looks to be solidly made. It does not get the tire to be repaired totally off the ground due to the suspension. I have to use a small hydraulic jack. The 4.5 helps take off the trailer weight. I would go with the 5.5 if I had to do it again. Biggr is always better. I had a 23 foot deck boat on a galvanized trailer and believe it weighed more than the travel trailer..... That would be my concern with a full load...** A: No concerns about the possibility of the trailer tipping as long as you're on a somewhat level surface. HOWEVER--YOU should pull your trailer onto the Trailer Aid BEFORE you actually have to use it in an emergency. Tandem axles are not the same for each trailer and may have different suspension componenets. I actually use a 2 x 10 under my Trailer Aid to give me the correct clearance needed to get an inflated tire off the ground !! Notice that I said INFLATED tire.....if I were to use the Trailer Aid WITHOUT a 2 x 10 under it, I would then NOT have the clearance for an inflated tire !! These are also the best for doing brake and bearing maintenance. Good Luck **Q: I have a sprinter 302rls travel trailer, will this work?** A: All I know is that it doesn't work with my 27 foot Forest River Salem. I bought the PLUS size and the wheel not on the ramp still touches the ground. From further research, this is a common problem. What I have been told is; get a 2x6 and cut it down to the ramp size and cut the same ramp angle on one end. This will give you another 11/2 inches and it should work. I haven't done that yet, I went and bought a 20 ton air over hydraulic bottle jack and 2 6 ton jack stands. So in conclusion, it didn't work for me, it may not work for you, The best way to tell, build a 5 inch high ramp using 2x6's and see if 51/2 inches tall is enough, THEN buy this because it is easier and lighter to carry around.
