Product Description North American Rescue's fully functioning Gen 7 C-A-T tourniquet is colored blue to identify it as a training device enabling instructors and trainees hands-on training & tourniquet application practice with a distinct visual means to distinguish training devices from personal/operational life-saving devices. The CAT utilizes a durable windlass system with a patented free-moving internal band providing true circumferential pressure to the extremity. Once adequately tightened, bleeding will cease and the windlass is locked into place. A hook and loop windlass retention strap is then applied, securing the windlass to maintain pressure during casualty evacuation. The patented Combat Application Tourniquet (C-A-T) featuring the proprietary red tip design and the mechanical advantage of a band within a band has been the Official Tourniquet of the U.S. Army since 2005. ## Questions & Answers

**Q: What is different between this device and an actual CAT that makes it a training device only?**
A: I don't believe there is any difference. I can pass on what was told to me in various courses. "The idea behind the different color is so you don't constantly use ones in training that will be used in actual emergencies." The concern is that one used in training over and over may be stressed and may not actually hold up as well when needed ( plastic buckel and Velcro).  The colors do have meaning though. Black= tactical, red/orange= Fire/rescue, blue= training.

**Q: I have a Gen 4 Cat tourniquet. Is it ok to train with this trainer?**
A: Hi if you are teaching different groups then i would suggest getting the gen 7 has these are the ones in current use

**Q: I know it is says the blue is for training but can I use this as a field TQ and not for training ???**

A: Yes all the CAT tourniquets we stock are 2016 GEN 7, its just difficult to get good up to date imagery
