Not too big or heavy but plenty of power and use. I would imagine 12ah would be too cumbersome to carry around but has a better run time than 4ah, obviously. To be sure you should contact Bosch Technical Support. They are very helpful. Also, if you have an older battery charger like I do, the new core 8.0 amp hour battery may not charge on it.
