Actually, it's more of an SSD squeezed down into the size of a USB flash drive, the build quality is instantly noticeable with be being incased in solid zinc alloy which gives it a nice weighty feel compared to the flimsy plastic usb drives we are all used to, its super fast! Ssd type speeds although when moving lots of large files in bulk I did notice a dip but it still blows all other usb drives I've used out the water, also when transfering larg bulk files it hearts up but nothing major it can still be handled no problem... Pros: It's fast, very fast, its ssd fast, its an ssd! It's ssd storage in a USB stick! It's a quality solid buil, the solid zinc alloy may actually be a heat sink! It's got 5 years warranty! Wowzers! Cons: It's expensive! (worth it imo) It's a little bulky compared to other USBs so could overlap some other usb ports on devices (I use a USB hub so no issues here) Don't lose the USB cap! If you are looking for a very fast flash drive that will last a long time, this is the one to spend the money on. **Q: Does this show as a local disk in Windows 7 or removable? Only local disks can have multiple partitions.** A: It actually shows up as if it was a external hard drive as opposed to a flash drive. But it functions as far as I can tell as if it was the removable flash drive it is. It even pops up with that icon on the taskbar that says "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" and when you put it in your computer, it does that AutoPlay thing. Hope that helps. **Q: whats the typical latency, e.g. can this really replace an SSD! were wishing to store reports and voice files in real time.** A: It really depends on your USB implementation/drivers. I haven't had a chance to benchmark it on newer hardware, but on an i7-4790K with native Intel USB 3.0 ports in UASP, the latency is an average of 0.2ms (HD Tune). Yes, I don't know why manufacturer information is so useless. This is basically a USB-integrated SSD with very similar performance to my Samsung T3. The T3, however, is 0.1ms and is much more consistent in terms of performance over time. UASP is a must for low latency/small files. **Q: How much actual usable storage on the 1TB?** A: 1,000,000,000,000 bytes. Solid quality build with a sturdy metal case. You will be surprised that it is on the heavy side. Again a sign of quality because this is due to the case and possibly heat sink desingn.
