It's at 65 db 6 ft away where I sleep. It's loud, but it cools my room great. **Q: I have vertical windows, how tall does the window kit extend to?** A: I had no problem fitting in in my vertical windo and it’s very quiet and cooked my room down quickly, it’s in my bedroom, set it up in 10 minutes. **Q: If I use this in my garage can i crack the garage door and vent it that way?** A: Female here, no pro at these things. But, I wouldn't see an issue with this at all AS LONG as 1.) The vent hose is indeed right outside or level to the bottom of the garage door. 2.) There is some type of box frame that the hose fits in/through, just in-case garage door is shoved down upon hose causing a multiple of issues. 3.) The rest of the air space between garage floor and floor/concrete needs to be sealed off ie...foam insulation wooden barrier or something. 4.) Garage door is locked/blocked so no one can still open it. ***If this is long term, I'd really think about cutting a hole in the garage door making it look nice with a nice little door with a magnetic catch when it is open (to keep it open) and when not in use...disconnect the hose from the the little doorway/hole and shut that door (locking). Sorry I cannot help anymore than that. Although, just cracking the garage door and not venting it completely out the unit with the hose attached to outdoor air would be a big mistake and wouldn't help you cool your garage. I live in a 500sqft studio and my AC that’s included in the apartment sucks. This little unit has been amazing. It doesn’t cool the entire space completelyyy but it’s a great addition. I love that the filter is reusable it makes it so much cheaper than any other system I’ve found with the expensive replacements. My only complaint is the fact that its water valve is on the bottom but honestly I don’t know how they could do it differently. It’s not too big of a pain though. I rarely ever have to empty it. Oh and on the top lip water collects in the little edge but it’s not too big of a pain. Just have to remember to clean it or soak it up so mold doesn’t form. Setting it up was so easy. I also keep it at the lowest temp 24/7 all spring and summer and it’s still running. No clue how LOL but definitely worth the money!
