Review: Great product but does not work in the UK - This item is actually really good quality. Solid and looks fantastic with fantastic reviews BUT, i was unable to use it as the plug it came with is a USA plug and, the item is made for USA 120V and not UK 240V hence the 1 star rating. This means that you have to also purchase a separate transformer which i was not prepared to do, and so the item was returned (currently awaiting the refund which desertcart tell me is being processed). I was very disappointed as i did a lot of research on sous vide cookers and this was highly rated! The issue i have is that desertcart UK is advertising this and do not make it clear enough that it will not work in the UK. I am thinking why even advertise this in the UK if it is not made for the UK market - seems silly to me.

**Q: can regular ziplock bags be used or do I need to purchase something else to use?**
A: Ziploc bags work fine. They're 100% polyethylene and inert. No one's found evidence of plasticizers leeching into anything. Definitely buy the freezer bags, and not the ones with the mechanical slider. Get the plain old freezer bags. They work reliably up to 80°C or so. Above this temperature, I double-bag, because the plastic gets soft and the zip seal gets weak. If nothing leaks, the outer bag can be reused. The plastic gets its strength back when it cools.

**Q: What is the diameter of the stainless steel cooker portion that goes in the water? I’m having trouble finding a container and lid that works with the**
A: Diameter = 2.35 in.  I use a Coleman Party Stacker 24 ice chest for the container. I cut a 2.5" hole in the corner of the removable lid with a hole saw and hand drill. I turned the clamp that comes with the circulator upside down when using the ice chest to allow a stable mount for the circulator.  

Most of the time for small and short cook jobs such as a single steak I use an open 6 qt dutch oven and use the clamp to hold the circulator to the side of the pot. It works without a lid, that way very well.

**Q: Anyone use this for home brewing?**
A: Not brewing, but I do use mine for fruit and veggie fermentations. I use the circulator in a large vessel (big Coleman cooler) and I put my ferment jars into the bath at 95*F. The fermentation is so rapid, that it eventually looks like it’s boiling. Generally my ferments are well enough along in under a week at those temperatures.

This item is actually really good quality.
