A: These planters are for aquaponics/hydroponics. So you need to use a grow media that isn’t soil like expanded clay pebbles or rock wool cubes etc. Soil would more than likely wash out.

**Q: Will standard 2" mesh pots work as a replacement**
A: No, standard net pots would not work if they are flat on the bottom. If you look at the pictures, these are tapered at the ends to lock into the float.
