I just sprayed some trellis and it was fine. **Q: Can this be applied on tanalised wood?** A: Hi I used it on some gates and fences and part of the wood on fence was tanalised it did take to it but not quite as good as the other wood areas. Saying that though it did still cover it ok. One some areas you might need two coats if you want a darker look when you apply it it might look more like a darker grey dependant on wood too. Must admit though it does look good when all done. **Q: Is it black or dark brown** A: Tudor Black Oak is black in colour. However, it does not cover up previously painted rough timber very well. If you are applying it to new unpainted timber it will cover as long as the wood is completely dried out. If you are trying to cover a previous colour, particularly red or green then 3 coats later and you'll still see the original colour coming through. Advice would be to use the more expensive Ducksback as this gave me a really black finish. I would also advise you to ensure the lid is firmly on, turn the tub upside down and give it a really good shake to ensure the pigment is well mixed through then stir it occasionally as you work. Stirring alone may not mix the pigment. It has the deepest darkest black like a newly painted blackboard. Best on rough sawn wood and not on a previously painted surface where it will take multiple coats applied after drying. Applied to a dry rough sawn surface the result once dry is amazing. For longer lasting finish use the plus version of this product. Completely taken by the effect and worth on a non wear surface. Note does not handle wear eg walking on it. I wonder if I get a discount next time I order for such a glowing review. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Pretty good *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 7 August 2024* I was worried the Black Oak colour might be too black so I mixed it with the Charcoal Grey (1:1) and this is the result. I used a combination of spary and brush and might have added more than 2 coats in some areas but it all looks pretty even. I really like the result, but I thought the coverage would be better. It migth have been my fault as it was my first time using a sprayer and I used the help of my daughter and her bf, both pretty young and as clueless as myself, so we probably wasted a lot at the beginning. In total I used 4 x 5L (two grey, two black) tubs for 9.5 x 4m garden. Once you get the first coat and let it dry, it is very quick to spray the remaining coats.The paint looks very watery at first but the sprayer still clogged several times.
