Review: The Best On desertcart - This is a good product. I bought it a few years back for my old workshop. I bought for my new workshop a few days ago and received the same good quality product as last time, however the front of the box was dented and the big bowl was cracked into three pieces. I tried mending it with clay and a torch but it didn't work. There was no way to contact the seller and ask for a replacement big bowl. I'm sending back the handle and the unused small bowl. Upon refund I'll definitely be ordering a new one.
Review: Make sure to season - Before using I did use borax the laundry detergent to season the crucible. Heat till red hot then sprinkle borax over not a lot just enough to coat the crucible. Don't forget the spout. It will create a smooth shiny surface and the silver will flow easier. Has been working great. Have melted 2oz of silver in this just fine with a mapp gas torch . Have done about half dozen 2oz pours and about a dozen .25 oz pours so far.

A: Some people are extremely vigilant in not buying things from China. People that are serious about that are very serious about it.  The crucible is Italian they say but high likelihood the tongs are not

**Q: Is this crucible coated**
A: No, you have to coat with borax prior to use.

**Q: Can you use over a fire instead of a torch?**
A: yes

**Q: Can they be used in a propane forge?**
A: The short answer is yes. It is very shallow, and doesn't hold THAT much material. As such, there is a risk of the high pressure propane blowing the molten material out.
