Review: Great, but not so great! - I bought the Ubiquiti Bullet AC IP67 to use as a Wi-Fi client (to catch marina/hotel Wi-Fi). Unfortunately, out of the box, it runs 2WA firmware which only supports airMAX bridge modes — it cannot connect to regular hotspots. Ubiquiti support confirmed that only airMAX mode is available by default, but didn’t offer the correct firmware. However, the Bullet is fully capable of standard Wi-Fi client mode. The fix is to flash it with the WA (Wi-Fi-capable) firmware. This isn’t listed on the official download page, but you can find it via community archives like ubnt.su — I used the WA v8.7.1 build and it worked perfectly. Pros: Rugged IP67 design, great radios, good performance once configured. Cons: Ubiquiti doesn’t make it easy to use as a simple Wi-Fi client — you need to hunt down the right firmware. Bottom line: Great hardware for client use — once you’ve flashed WA firmware. Otherwise, out-of-the-box it’s locked to airMAX and doesn’t meet the standard Wi-Fi use case.

**Q: Can you disable airmax so it will connect with any 802.11 access points then plug this into my router to provide access to all my devices?**
A: No you cannot.  I found out the hard way.  After countless hours of failure trying to configure it, I contacted Ubiquiti directly and was told that the Bullet AC will ONLY connect to other Ubiquiti AC equipment.   You need to use the Bullet "M" series for WiFi access.  Unfortunately they are single band only.  I purchased the Bullet M 2.4g for my boat and it works very well,  I have had no issues, even streaming movies.  Virtually all public WiFi is 2.4g.

**Q: With this outside can i hook this to a netgear router wan port in the house? also what mode would this unit be in, bridge? what about the router mode?**
A: No.  This device doesn't use any open WiFi standards. You will need another Ubiquiti device with airMAX to create a bridge.

**Q: Why is the black one IP67 rated, and this one is cheaper?  Is this one rated for outdoor use?**
A: Yes
