After a lot of frustrating research, I discovered that older, "rapid" chargers for Nickel-Cadmium (NiCad) batteries should NOT be used to charge Nickel-Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) batteries! Both my DeWalt drill and charger are at least 15 years old, and were made before NiMH and Li-Ion batteries were in general use. Older NiCd chargers were not "smart" enough to stop feeding current into batteries once they were fully charged. Apparently, NiCd batteries can take this kind of abuse while Ni-MH cannot. Ni-MH batteries get VERY hot and start melting.WARNING - Match your charger with compatible batteries, and visa versa. For this, make sure to read the fine print, for both batteries and chargers. ### ⭐ Dangerous *by M***R on Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2018* It melted into our charger and very nearly set the house on fire!
