Unlike wool or cotton, which cause the fibres to swell and retain water, the combination of 23% Lycraยฎ and 3% elastane makes the outer sock a tight fit. This is important because, if the sock fits loosely, the foot moves around inside and can create blisters or some discomfort. The outer sock will get wet. The polyamide sock is abrasion resistant. It is important to note that, if you wear shoes or boots that are not the correct size, the sock may wear or develop holes. SANDWICH LAYER Made from a type of plastic membrane (similar to Gore TexTM) with very small holes that are large enough to allow vapour to escape from the inside but small enough to stop water droplets getting in. This works on a combination of heat and air pressure. INNER LAYER HOTTER OTTER socks consist of a blend of manmade and natural fibres - 70% acrylic, 10% merino wool 12% polyester heat functioning yarn, 8% Spandex. The functioning yarn works with the movement of your feet using kinetic energy to create heat within the sock. Combined with the breathable membrane, it allows vapour to escape from the sock keeping the feet hotter. ## Features - 100% waterproof, breathable and windproof. HOTTER OTTER trials have proved this sock to be 12% hotter than the original OTTER and 30% hotter than a standard sports sock. - Construction - outer sock 74% hardwearing polyamide, 23% Lycra and 3% elastane. Inner sock 70% acrylic, 10% merino wool, 12% heat functioning yarn, 8% spandex. - Suitable for outdoor sports - Golf, Running, Hiking, Walking, Cycling, Mountain Biking, Fishing, Skiing. - Heat functioning yarn works by converting kinetic foot movement (stretching and contracting the fibres) into heat. The acrylic yarn helps wick away moisture which prevents the growth of odour creating bacteria. Has a similar feel to cashmere and silk. As it's hydroscopic it moves sweat from the foot to the outside of the sock, keeping the foot dry and preventing blisters. - Tight fitting performance sock.
