How well the cap will refit I do not know as I have not done this. I selected a lower height for the wall mounting position to suit my requirement for mounting a weather station on the top of the pole. **Q: What size masonary screws are required for the 4 holes provided? Going to use for a Weather Station** A: I would suggest drilling a 7mm hole with masonary bit and plug and using 50mm x 5mm (or 2" 10 ) screws. **Q: is the 1" diameter internal or external measurement please?** A: Hi there. I believe it is external. Good luck! **Q: What's the screw size i need for this please, this is going on a chimney if that helps. Thanks** A: I would think 4 two inch screws would do the trick. I brought mine to attach a weather station to a garage so it is in the direct path of the wind. It didn't bend or brake in the last few storms and the anemometer is still on top.
