The quality of these Globe Electric fixtures is equivalent to that of any typical big box store fixtures. If seeing some silicone is that much of a concern for you I would suggest not buying $50.00 light fixtures. I've purchased expensive outdoor fixtures in the past only to be disappointed at how quickly they deteriorated. At $50.00 a pop I'm not all that worried if they don't last forever. I'd definitely recommend these and buy again so much so that I just ordered two more for the side of the house.

I really liked the look of these fixtures. So took a chance and ordered two for the front entrance of the house. I have to say I like them even more now. They're really simple in a good way and give off a lot of light due to the clear glass. I ordered some 60 watt Edison bulbs to give them a little more pizazz. Pricier side for porch lights considering its minimalistic/modern design but nevertheless a good product. Replaced old light fixture that had blown ballast with this and paired with bulbs that have a solar cell incorporated (light turn on/off automatically with sunrise/sunset) and simply leave the switch on. Durable product and easy to use. To change bulbs, the bottom is easy to pop off and fits securely with no chance of falling out.
