The weave is circular, not vertical. Normally wife beaters stretch side to side. These stretch top to bottom. The XXL would normally be what I would consider an XL from Hanes or just about anyone else. I like a more loosely fitting tank top for working out. Actually, I like a loose-fitting tank top in general. This is more form-fitting than I would prefer. Might be great for some, but I don't like tight-fitting/form-fitting clothing as a rule. These are now "chillin' in the house" clothes, not "working out at the gym" clothes. The quality of the shirt is pretty good; the fabric initially felt light, but once I tried it on after washing, it was pretty nice. Can't knock the manufacturing or material, just the sizing. So, buyers be warned: if you're not a slender person like the model in the picture, and you have more muscle, this shirt is going to stick to you unless you get a size larger than you would normally order. I'm a size 32 waist, with little excess body fat. I purchased a medium based on size chart. The waist area of the tank is a bit narrow and hugs the hips. Being the shirt length goes longer than hips, the tank pulls up and bunches around the waist. I have to keep pulling the shirt down. The material doesn't seem to stretch much, so the tank is going to continue to ride up and gather around the waist.
