Review: 1988 again - In terms of extras and enhanced optional features this is perhaps the best you can expect for any Doctor Who The collection Blu-ray release The picture is as good as can be expected from the source, the audio has great optional surround mixes, which is not featured as prominently on most other releases from this range. There is a vast amount of raw location and studio footage, that’s not even mentioning some excellent new documentaries and previously unavailable content, as well as the previous bonus features from the DVD releases. The stories themselves are mostly exceptional; Remembrance of the Daleks, a classic, with a great new cut for Blu-Ray, and a moving tribute to guest actor Dursley McLinden amongst extras. The Happiness Patrol has an excellent new cut, giving extra depth to a very underrated Doctor Who story. Silver Nemesis is the weak link in the chain of season 25, though the extended cut doesn’t seem to vastly improve, it was a pretty good effort. The Greatest Show in the Galaxy, is a story that lives up to its name. The set comprises some of the best stories of Doctor Who in the Eighties and very extensive extras both old and new. There are literally a dozen or more hours of raw footage from behind the scenes, making this set perhaps the most extensive insight into how Doctor Who was made. Review: Normal High Quality Release - For once I really enjoyed the special editions, a stronger narrative and the additional content works well for these stories. Not sure I'll watch the originals again. That said, I don't think I'll watch Silver Nemesis ever again in any form unless it is cut down to just the Courtney Pine bit. Can we not just have 90 minutes of great music as opposed to such a terrible story?! The Behind the Sofa extra was much improved by having some of the guest cast sit in for their stories although the money would have been much better spent on interviewing them properly. The Escape Room extra seems to be just a load of actors getting cross with each other. I can't imagine anyone will watch this twice. Rest is all excellent as usual, special mention for the 'Looking for Dursley' and 'In Conversation' extras which were full of insight. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Contributor | Bonnie Langford, Chris Clough, Dame Sheila Hancock, Sophie Aldred, Sylvester McCoy | | Customer Reviews | 4.8 out of 5 stars 234 Reviews | | Format | Blu-ray | | Genre | Action & Adventure, Drama, Science Fiction | | Language | English | | Manufacturer | BBC | | Number of discs | 8 | | Publication date | 28 Oct. 2024 | | Runtime | 9 hours and 48 minutes | | Season ID | 25th | ## Product Details - **Genre:** Action & Adventure, Drama, Science Fiction - **Format:** Blu-ray - **Contributor:** Bonnie Langford, Chris Clough, Dame Sheila Hancock, Sophie Aldred, Sylvester McCoy - **Language:** English - **Number of discs:** 8 ## Images ![Doctor Who: The Collection Season 25 Blu-Ray (Limited Edition Packaging) - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71+OykdwDQL.jpg) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 1988 again *by M***J on 3 March 2025* In terms of extras and enhanced optional features this is perhaps the best you can expect for any Doctor Who The collection Blu-ray release The picture is as good as can be expected from the source, the audio has great optional surround mixes, which is not featured as prominently on most other releases from this range.
