Using with laptop and USB3 port and it seems to power itself fine without need for external power, but as i'm kind of planning to perm double sticky this down to desk...i've hooked one up to be on the safeside as had one lying about. I'm happy with it and like the blue led indicators. Not super keen on the blue used on the cable, but that's just personal preference.
