For the first couple of times out I found them a little too tight and a bit restrictive but I persisted and they have stretched just a little to make the compression still useful but not so tight that it affects how I move. It's a fine line but after 6-7 weeks or so I have made them my go-to choice for support and comfort. I did go for the larger size even though my legs are not that big and don't normally warrant a large size.They supported me through the last few weeks of full training and taper for London Marathon so they have been worn for many miles of running now and are still going strong.
