A: I don't have mine here but I'd estimate 2 to 2-1/2".  It really doesn't matter since you can walk the parallel ruler across the chart to a compass rose or wherever.  Check the Power Squadron video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKSBYfscA80.
