It is not stereo and it is not Hi Fi. The quality of recording is average and it does not pick up sounds from a distance. I am not sure if there is any cassette recorder that fits your need these days. You may start looking for a digital recorder that you can download the recorded files to a computer and play with them. The price is very affordable and equal to cassette recorder. **Q: Can it be used to record audio conversations on landline phones? If so, how do you connect it?** A: I don't know how technical you wish to be; this is just a simple recorder. If you call someone from a landline phone and wish to record the conversation for example, I suggest you turn on the speaker and then turn on the recorder.
