If you prefer more friction, rubber thumbstick covers can be added on top. Many FPS players use this combo for improved durability and feel. **Q: Can I install these on my Xbox Series X/S or Xbox One Elite controller without disassembling it?** A: These thumbsticks are designed for the original Xbox ONE controller only (Models 1537/1697) and require opening the controller shell with a T8 Torx screwdriver. They are not compatible with Xbox Series X/S or Xbox One Elite controllers. **Q: My original plastic thumbstick cap broke off — are these a direct drop-in replacement that I can snap on without tools?** A: These are full thumbstick replacements that require disassembling the Xbox ONE controller using a T8 Torx screwdriver. They are not snap-on covers. Once installed, they function identically to the original sticks with added aluminum durability. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely happy! *by O***E on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 21 December 2020* I bought these to replace my now very worn, stock, rubber thumbsticks and I couldn't be happier with them!Build quality is surprisingly good for the price and I'm expecting these to last a long time due to being aluminium as opposed to rubber sticks. The process for fitting these is very simple too. To anyone purchasing, I suggest looking up the dismantle guides on ifixit.com for some help. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Nice feel.. perfect fit *by A***W on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 17 December 2023* 5 minute job with a small torx bit.. very impressed with the feel was worried might be a bit slippy but the textured edge gives enough grip for rocket league! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Fine, but slippy *by C***D on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 17 October 2021* These fit fine into the old style Xbox One controllers, take about 5 minutes to replace the old ones so long as you have a T8 Torx and a spudger for getting the grips off. However, I'm only giving them 4 stars because although they're a really good price, particularly for being aluminium rather than plastic, the actual thumbstick caps are super slippy, and the textured ring doesn't stop that being the case.Probably be fine for games where there's not a lot of stick movements, but for things like FPS games these could be an issue. Going to try roughing them up a little bit with some high grit emery cloth, hopefully that will help. --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.tn/products/64182042-2-metal-caps-for-xbox-thumbsticks-for-series-x-s](https://www.desertcart.tn/products/64182042-2-metal-caps-for-xbox-thumbsticks-for-series-x-s) --- *Product available on Desertcart Tunisia* *Store origin: TN* *Last updated: 2026-11-06*
