Review: Worked for the first 120 miles, and is now junk... - EDIT: 9/8/24 I had to come back here to update, cuz I was contacted by Hana from Customer Service (CSR), and she handled my concerns like a boss, totally professional, and in the end, I was sent a total replacement kit due to the unavailability of a replacement controller that apparently was faulty and that caused the wheel to lock up... Thank you Hana for going the extra mile for me to resolve this, and I appreciate your help in this matter... I am looking forward to getting back on the road again... Anthony I really liked this unit when I first got it, and installed it... I managed to get about 120 miles of use with it before it suddenly stopped working and left me stranded a few miles from home cuz it felt as tho' something internally gave out and was dragging and causing the wheel to no longer roll freely, somewhat like a bearing going bad on you... The throttle indicator lights remained on (red, yellow, green), but when the throttle was engaged, there was no response... After managing to walk home with it, I flipped the bike over, and tried to turn the front hub by hand, and it was hard to spin, as tho' it was dragging on something... So I started to disconnect the wiring harness, and when I disconnected the 3-wires to the block (blue, green, yellow) the wheel spins freely... My guess is that the controller is bad, or the wheel motor, or both... I'm going to have to replace the unit, and this time I will try someone else...
Review: Ease of use! Plug and play install! - Very easy install! It's perfect in its simplicity. Works every time you need it to! No software! No apps! No screens! Just a throttle and the open road baby! I will say, Be sure to get your drop outsize correct. I wouldn't recommend this size motor on potmetal or carbon fiber forks or unreinforced dropouts in frames. It has an intense amount of torque! Which is amazing! And loved the ease of use and plug and play install. There's no extra screens or sensors to install. If you've changed your bike tire or put a chain on a bike. You probably have enough working knowledge to install this kit yourself without a problem. Definitely invest in a large battery. In urban bike friendly areas like in Portland,Denver ect. It's a must-have commuter dream! I'll report back next year and give you an update on the durability. So far though, I'm impressed!

**Q: Does it comes with battery ?**
A: no

**Q: Can anybody recommend batteries for this?**
A: Buy the best battery that you can afford. I also recommend that you go with the Lithium battery option and buy the largest Amp Hour (ah) rating that you can afford. The higher the ah the longer the range. You can find many options on Ebay but beware and carefully read about what exactly you are buying and where it comes from. After a lot of research I purchased my 48v (52v at full capacity) 20 ah battery pack from calibike.com as well. He met all the criteria that I was looking for including... Excellent price. The price included a top quality charger. Excellent built quality including the Battery Management System (BMS). He is located in the USA. I received my battery in less than a week. If you buy from over seas / China it can take a month or more to receive your order.  I spoke to Calibike extensively via email and by phone before making my purchase. The owner was very happy to answer any and all my questions and was very prompt with replying. Take note of his recommendation on what size and type of fuse to get (the fuse set up with the kit is rubbish and you will soon be replacing it).That said, Also consider and plan for how you will carry/ attach the battery pack and ESC to your bike. The bag that comes with the kit is of poor quality and does not attach very securely nor will it last very long. As you are no doubt finding out the batteries cost more than the kit itself. Protect your investment.

**Q: How wide does the rear triangle need to be to fit the hub? I have a narrow single-speed bike and am worried from reviews it won't fit**
A: Great Question! The quick answer is the rear triangle needs to be much wider than a single speed. I have installed this kit on 2 different multi-speed bikes and had to widen the triangle on each one. I don't have specific measurements to give you but you will need to cold form the triangle to fit the hub. It is not hard to do if you are handy with tools. Other questions you need to ask are... Brakes. If you have a single speed with a coaster brake, Forget it. You will need to get a caliper type break kit (and a good one at that). Second is you are going to have a multi gear rear wheel with no derailier. Adjusting the chain so it stays on is going to be difficult at best. you could swap out the multi gear freewheel for a single speed but that will open up more problems and not solve the braking problem.My quick advice to you if you want to build one of these is to find a different bike. you will probably have to modify that as well but not as drastically. These things are a blast but you want to make sure you have a safe and solid set up.I hope this helps. Feel free to contact me with any questions.

**Q: Am I correct in thinking this kit does not have peddle assist?**
A: It does not have pedal assist, only thumb throttle. If it did have pedal assist, you would see a 4" or 5" disk shaped sensor for the crank. I prefer thumb throttle, but some places require the pedal assist sensor. Pedal assist starts the motor working when you start moving the pedals.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ PEDAL ASSIST DOES SAVE BATTERY POWER.

Well I had this kit since 2022 and so far so good it did not disappoint me. I do pedal assist all the time and I believe the motor wheel loves it. I had to buy a second battery because I kept charging the first battery and the first battery would cut off. At that time I did not knowledge of these EBIKE BATTERIES. People be telling me they sees me flying up the street but I still be doing pedal assist. With my new battery if I am going on a long journey I may top the power off but plugging it up no more than 3 hours. OVERALL I am happy with this kit and it was worth the investment. Just watch the bumps in the street
