About the Startup Describe your product in 3 words.Comfortable Effective GodsendHow did you come up with the idea for this product?I love shoes but I am one of the 60% of the population with slightly different sized feet, this means that my shoes often slip off my foot, causing discomfort, pain and sometimes blistering. This meant every time I was out walking for any period of time, my bag would be packed with plasters and spare shoes for when, not if, my shoes started to hurt or slip off. I would also look in the shoe shop window and nearly cry at the thought of not being able to buy a certain style of shoes, because I just knew they would not stay on my feet and end up back in their shoe box. The shoe boxes in my wardrobe were piling up, with shoes I was never going to wear again because none of the heel grips on the market made them comfortable to wear. But I did not get rid of the shoes as I knew one day somebody would come up with a solution – I just didn’t think it would be me!! What makes your product special?STICKY HEELZ is an innovative shoe slip prevention product that is designed with a shoe pad and a heel pad that connect to secure the foot to the back of the shoe. This differs from existing heel pads in that a single pad is placed inside the shoe aimed at reducing the amount of volume inside the shoe. However, the foot can still slip inside and out of the shoe with these volume reducing shoe grips. The unique patent pending two-part design of STICKY HEELZ stops the foot moving around inside and out of the shoe. The product is also effective in all types of shoes from high heels to ballet flats to men’s loafers. What has been the best part of your startup experience?The best part of this experience is coming up with this solution to my shoe problem and personally going through every part of the product development process to commercialise STICKY HEELZ on the market. Then for people identify with my issue and purchase STICKY HEELZ not only across the UK but in the USA, just blows my mind. It makes me feel so happy that I can help others wear those shoes they love in comfort and confidence. On my journey there has been great support from other entrepreneurs, Entrepreneurial Spark and organisations such as who recognise how difficult it can be to get consumers to find your product when you are not an organisation with big marketing budgets. I feel part of an entrepreneurial community now and I am looking forward to expanding the product range so watch this space.
