Review: Easy to use - Yes, it mixed well with potting soil and sand that I need for a pineapple plant. I liked the packaging too. It’s a ziplock closure. I was impressed.
Review: My Weeping Ficus is VERY Happy - I did a major re-potting of my weeping ficus last winter, and completely changed the soil. I wanted to make sure I had a soil that the ficus would love, so I had to use perlite to ensure that the soil had sufficient drainage. I also had to do a heavy pruning of the tree, so I was concerned how it would recover, but 9 months on, you can see by the photos that the ficus is not only thriving, it growing faster than I have EVER seen it, and I've had this tree since the 80s! It is LOVING the soil mix with the perlite, and I couldn't be happier with its growth. I am going to have to prune it again this winter at the rate it is growing! I am very happy with the results of mixing this with the plant soil I used, and would definitely recommend this for anyone else who needs to re-pot a ficus.

A: The best mix would be 40% Perlite and 60% for cuttings or seed starting!

A: Perlite is used in the garden to prevent soil compaction, improve aeration and retain moisture. ... To answer your question YES is does absorb water.  However Perlite will dry out too rapidly for water-loving plants.
