The armor on this cable is supposed to be the most serious possible attempt at preventing that. (Also the cable being made from a different plastic than Apple uses can always help.) Although we have had this just a short time the strain relief limits the radius of the cable movement spreading the pressure over a greater area. I am optimistic that this one will last significantly longer.
